Stalk Market:
The Breakdown
The Stalk Market is a hyper-local online marketplace for “Soil-as-a-Service,” supporting numerous ecological Stewards from around Boulder County.
Our goal is to make accessing exceptionally high-quality food from well-tended soil easy and convenient.
With an online platform for ordering from multiple local farms, weekly delivery/in-town pickup, and food scrap recollection to return to farm for pig feed, investing your dollars locally has never been easier.
~~~~~
Over the course of 2026, we will be onboarding 25 new accounts at each seasonal quarter: Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter.
Our max capacity will be 150 accounts per year for the Yellow Barn Hub.
New members get access to the private online marketplace to pre-purchase (invest) in Shares from various Stewards - whether that be food, bundles of firewood, or even every day essentials.
Shares are divvied up into smaller portions called “dividends”.
You can request up to 4 dividends per share per week during the weekly Claim Order Window.
There are 5 sizes of shares:
Single Shares
Quarter Shares
Half Shares
Full Shares
Each Steward sets how many dividends are in each size share, and what the price is per share.
Larger shares have a better price per unit.
Quarter, Half and Full Shares will only be available for investing during the
Quarterly Investment Windows (the first 15 days of March, June, Sept, and Dec).
Single Shares are always available for investing.
~~~~~~
Right now, we are opening the next 25 account slots for the Summer Cohort.
At registration, each new account makes a one-time Community Contribution of an amount that is proportionate to their account size
(i.e: 2 adults + 2 children, or an individual, or a couple, etc).
These funds are put into the Earth Church “Seed Bank” to assist in funding further development of community food hub infrastructure (walk-in coolers, root cellars, wash sinks etc), scholarship funds for future members (in 2027), or emergency funds for Stewards, Nodes, or Nooks in the ecosystem.
There will be an annual membership fee for returning members that is yet to be determined in price. This membership fee will also be put into the Earth Church Seed Bank for the same purposes.
For 2026, each new seasonal Cohort will receive a percentage of their Community Contribution back as an online credit on their account that can be used towards investing in their first shares.
Spring Cohort: 50% credit (50 accounts)
Summer Cohort: 25% credit (25 accounts)
Fall Cohort: 15% credit (25 accounts)
Winter Cohort: 10% credit(25 accounts)
Spring Cohort 2027: 5% credit (25 accounts)
150 Total by Spring 2027.
Once capacity to reached, we plan to replicate the model to a new Hub.
